On the heels of a repeat boys baseball championship in 2012 comes a repeat in wrestling as well. The Independent Interscholastic Athletic Association of Guam (IIAAG) Boys Wrestling Championship was won by the Simon Sanchez High School Sharks this past weekend; and to top it all off, the SSHS Lady Sharks took the IIAAG Girls Wrestling Championship the night before.  The SSHS Lady Sharks form one team with a few Academy of Our Lady of Guam female grapplers since that school cannot field a full team.

Second place was won by the Father Duenas High School Friars, coached by former Sharks coach Terry Debold, as they edged out the Guam High School Panthers by a single point.  The Sharks boys and girls teams dominated the season, and dominated the 2-day wrestling tournament as well.  The tournament was held at our school gymnasium by virtue of our first place finish after the regular season.  Congratulations to all the island’s student athletes, parents, coaches, and corporate sponsors for 2 days of great wrestling!
